It is mental health awareness week in the UK and the theme is thriving, not just surviving.

Each day this week I am going to write about ways in which I am going beyond just survival and am actually thriving.  Of course, survival is very important but life is here for such a short time that we need to thrive too.

So, today I went for a very long walk, over 5-miles in total which is more than I have done in a long time.  It felt amazing, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, butterflies were out, there was a nice breeze on my face and I didn’t bump into many people at all.

I then went off the beaten track slightly to cut across some farm land and in to the sun:

I really need to do this more.  I live in such a scenic area and I need to make the most of it, especially when it makes me feel so alive.
