It is mental health awareness week in the UK and the theme is thriving, not just surviving.

Each day this week I am going to write about ways in which I am going beyond just survival and am actually thriving.  Of course, survival is very important but life is here for such a short time that we need to thrive too.

So, today I went for a very long walk, over 5-miles in total which is more than I have done in a long time.  It felt amazing, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, butterflies were out, there was a nice breeze on my face and I didn’t bump into many people at all.

I started off down a popular footpath in my area which is beautiful in places with all the old bridges:18301735_10154629359540658_8341021106520226889_n.jpg

I then went off the beaten track slightly to cut across some farm land and in to the sun:

Before finally going down to the marshes and back home:

I really need to do this more.  I live in such a scenic area and I need to make the most of it, especially when it makes me feel so alive.

How about you all, what ideas do you have that mean you thrive not just survive!
